PlyometricExplosiveCoreFunctional
Body Part: Abs
Description
Stand side-on to a wall with a medicine ball held near the hip in both hands. Rotate the hips and torso toward the wall to throw the ball, allowing the rear foot to pivot. The throw develops rotational power by transferring force from the legs through the trunk to the arms.
How to Perform
- Stand side-on to a solid wall with feet about shoulder width apart.
- Hold the ball in both hands near the hip away from the wall.
- Bend your knees slightly and turn the hips and torso away from the target.
- Drive through your feet and rotate toward the wall, letting the rear foot pivot.
- Throw the ball into the wall with both hands and follow through with the rotation.
- Catch or retrieve the ball and reset your stance before the next throw.
- Complete the repetitions, then turn around and repeat in the opposite direction.

Tips
- Choose a ball you can accelerate quickly.
- Aim at a consistent point on the wall.
- Keep enough distance from the wall to follow through freely.
- Match the number of throws in each direction.
- Use a ball designed for wall throws and a wall that can take the impact.
Common Mistakes
- Using the arms only instead of initiating the throw with hip and trunk rotation
- Letting the knees collapse inward during the rotation and throw
- Over-rotating the lower back instead of turning through the hips and upper back
- Rounding the back or leaning excessively forward during the loading phase
- Failing to brace the core, causing the torso to wobble or arch during the throw
- Stopping the follow-through abruptly instead of allowing the body to rotate naturally after release
